At Texas Tone Amps, we are authorized dealers for Amplified Parts, Mojotone, Tube Depot, and Eurotubes. As an amp builder specializing in high-quality audio equipment, we keep a stock of premium amplifier parts and guitar accessories, including tube amplifiers.
All tubes used in audio equipment, including those for guitar accessories and tube amplifiers, are tested for noise and microphonics.
This set of three (3) JJ ECC83S tubes features a short plate spiral filament design that offers an inherently low noise flow and resistance to mechanical noise and microphonics. These qualities make them perfect for use in audio equipment, particularly in tube amplifiers and high gain stages, as well as for guitar accessories.
These tubes offer thick mids and slightly more high-end response than the ECC83S, making them ideal for audio equipment where a slight mid push and added chime are desirable. They perform excellently in input stages or in all positions within vintage tube amplifiers. We successfully used them alongside current Balanced triodes for phase inverter applications, enhancing the overall performance of our guitar accessories.
Our Frame Grid style offers a high-quality, low-noise replacement for any 12AX7 type tube, making it an ideal choice for audio equipment. We typically use these in the first preamp position, usually V1, which is essential for enhancing the performance of tube amplifiers and improving your overall sound. It's a must-have for any guitar accessories setup.
All power tubes used in tube amplifiers are tested for noise and matched at multiple operating points for plate current (± one milliamp) and transconductance, ensuring optimal performance for your audio equipment. Additionally, they undergo a 24-hour burn-in process.
The classic 6V6 traits offer a tighter low-end response and very smooth but punchy overdriven tones, making them ideal for use in high-quality audio equipment, including tube amplifiers, with applications up to 500VDC on the plates. Additionally, these tube amplifiers have dramatically reduced susceptibility to mechanical noise (tube rattle), which is especially beneficial in combo amplifiers and enhances the performance of various guitar accessories.
The lows of this audio equipment are deep, big, and round. The mids are very harmonically rich and natural, while the highs are thick, creamy, and exceptionally detailed. This tube amplifier boasts a tight and muscular response. Additionally, the Double Mica design offers radically reduced susceptibility to mechanical noise (tube rattle) in combo amplifiers, making it an essential component for guitar accessories.
The JJ 5881 is a classic 23-watt stubby bottle 6L6 variant, ideal for various audio equipment applications. We utilize these tubes in setups with up to 500VDC on the plates, making them suitable for almost any 6L6 application. The breakup occurs earlier than a standard 6L6 and transitions very smoothly. They deliver a delightful 'jangle' for days! We LOVE these tubes! This makes them a fantastic choice for any 6L6 amp or classic 5881 design, perfect for enhancing your guitar accessories and tube amplifiers.

The Armadillo Tone™ Tube Preamp/Boost is a versatile tube preamp/boost pedal designed to provide added flexibility for both live performances and studio recording, making it an essential piece of audio equipment for any guitarist. This tube preamp enhances your guitar's signal with a controlled boost, allowing for internal overdrive of the tube, overdriving your amp's preamp stage, or a combination of both.
Gain - Tone - Volume
The Gain knob adjusts the voltage gain of the built-in preamp tube, delivering 10-24dB of gain with the included Mil-Spec 6189/12AU7 tube, or up to 34dB with a 12AT7. While more gain can be tempting, I personally prefer the 12AU7 for my Telecaster, as it enriches the tone without sacrificing quality. A 12AX7 is not recommended for optimal performance.
The Armadillo preamp's flexibility is further enhanced by the wide range Tone control. Set it back to the 8 O’clock position for a rich

Do you ever need to boost your guitar's output signal without resorting to a distortion or fuzz box? Maybe you just want to get your signal cleanly through a pedal chain, or perhaps you want a slight boost for a lead part to stand out above a drummer and bassist. You might also desire to play a softer tone without the volume loss typically associated with such sounds.
The Kick Box™ clean boost pedal is a fantastic addition to your audio equipment, utilizing a low-noise Op-Amp and a low-noise transistor to create a clean, transparent signal boost. This pedal offers high input impedance and low output impedance, making it ideal for driving a pedal array or the input of tube amplifiers.
A Boost control feature allows you to manage the output level of the Kick Box. When turned up, it can overdrive your guitar amp's input, providing a little or a lot of distortion and/or volume at the press of a footswitch, all without needing to resort to mega-metal distortion. At a moderate setting, it delivers that essential boost to drive your signal through an array of pedals, for a lead part, or to compensate for rolling off your guitar's tone control.
Customer Comment:
"The cleanest boost I’ve ever used. Much clearer than a JFET and it boosts all frequencies evenly. Throw it in front of an amp and use it as a clean boost or a super fuzz when cranked. The low end is very intense so be prepared or use a bass cut if it’s not your style. The battery option is fantastic as well, so you can just throw it on the floor and jam. Highly recommended for a clean boost."
Info
If you have an amp that sounds great cranked but is too loud for some songs, set up your amp for the desired volume and distortion for your lead parts, pushing the amp deep into that "sweet spot". Then engage the Kick Box™ and turn the Boost level down to reduce the guitar's signal level, allowing you to enjoy a quieter, cleaner tone at the press of a button for ballads or softer songs.
However you use it, the Kick Box™ is a small, versatile tool in the electric guitarist's sonic palette. I've been using it for several years in clubs and coffee houses, either to give my signal a boost for searing blues leads or when I roll the volume and tone levels down on the guitar for a soft, sweet sound while still needing to be heard in the band's mix.
